What exactly is root ‘air pruning’? The walls of Root Plus pots have a conical texture. This makes the roots grow towards the ventilation holes without becoming tangled. When the root tips reach the ends of the holes, they come into contact with the air and dehydrate, which automatically causes more root hairs and new root branches to grow. This process then repeats over and over again until the plants develop the strong root structure needed to absorb water and nutrients for vigorous growth.

📋 Instructions for use

1. Place the tray in a mini greenhouse or suitable container.
2. Moisten the cubes with water or ROOT!T First Feed solution (5 ml per 1 litre of water) and leave them to hydrate fully, preferably overnight.
3. For seeds – place the seed in the upper hole and cover lightly with a small amount of material from the cube.
4. For cuttings – add ROOT!T Rooting Gel to the hole and place the cutting in the deeper part.
5. Maintain a temperature of 18–22°C for seeds or around 22°C for cuttings, as well as high humidity in the mini greenhouse.
6. Once a well-developed root system has formed, transplant the cubes directly into a pot or substrate.

💡 Tip from Urban Botaniks: For the highest germination rate, combine the tray with ROOT!T First Feed, ROOT!T Rooting Gel and a heated ROOT!T propagator. This will provide optimal humidity, temperature and a nutrient medium for fast germination and strong rooting.

ROOT!T Rooting Gel 150ml is a rooting gel suitable for use with ornamental plants, softwood and hardwood plants, and leaf and root cuttings. This gel adheres tightly to the cutting stem and, with the practical bottle tip, can be applied directly into the rooting substrate (rockwool plugs, peat plugs, coconut fibre, compost or soil). Preparing for use:

1. Place the temperature sensor in the propagator or in the area to be heated. It can be suspended using the rubber suction cup or placed in the substrate (image 3).
2. Place the thermostat outside the propagator or growing area – the thermostat and output socket must always be kept in a dry place! DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER OR LIQUIDS!
3. Plug the heat mat or other heating device into the output socket.
4. Connect the thermostat to the mains supply – the POWER indicator should light up.
5. Proceed to set the desired temperature to be maintained.

Setting the thermostat:

The display shows the current temperature at the sensor. Press UP to display degrees Fahrenheit ºF or DOWN to display degrees Celsius ºC – the corresponding indicator will light up.

1. Press the SET button to show the desired temperature on the display; after 3 seconds, it will return to the current temperature.
2. Press and hold the SET button for 3 seconds; the display will start flashing. Press UP or DOWN to select the desired temperature to be maintained.
3. Press SET again to return the display to the current temperature; if left untouched, it will return to the current temperature display after 30 seconds.

The HEATING indicator will light up if the current temperature is lower than the desired temperature – the heat mat / heating device is now ON. The HEATING indicator will not light up if the current temperature is higher than the desired temperature – the heat mat / heating device is now OFF.
