Verte de Cambrai Corn Salad (Valerianella locusta) Seeds - 25 g

• Botanical name: Valerianella locusta
• One packet contains 25 grams of seeds.
• Characteristic cold resistance of the variety. It has a dark green colour and rounded leaves.
• For a winter harvest, sow from late summer through autumn. When grown in a tunnel or greenhouse, it can also be harvested until spring.
• Salad leaves are an excellent source of iron and vitamin C during the winter months, when fresh vegetables are less common.

Growing recommendations

• Sow the seeds in a bed or a suitable container with soil (if you use the latter option, make sure the soil is well drained).
• Sow the seeds in rows or by spreading evenly, at a depth of up to 1 cm, with row spacing of around 20–30 cm.
• Maintain even moisture. Avoid infrequent watering with large amounts of water. This makes the leaves more susceptible to pests and diseases and also contributes to a bitter taste.
• Harvest the leaves from the outside, while leaving the centre to continue growing.
• Avoid growing the salad in strong sunlight; shade it if necessary, because at very high temperatures it may flower and lose flavour quality.
