Queen Ann's Pocket mini melon (Queen Ann's Pocket) - 10 pcs seeds
€2,71
A 300-year-old melon variety with a unique history. Enjoy an unprecedented fragrance!
- Botanical name: Cucumis melo
- The fruits are much smaller than a regular melon, approximately the size of an apple.
- The rind is golden-orange with yellow and red stripes.
- The flesh is white or very pale; the flavour is not the main attraction, but it makes up for it with a unique fragrance. A combination of melon, pineapple and hints of jasmine.
- The variety has been known since the Victorian era, when women carried it in their pockets for its strong fragrance.
- Suitable for growing: on a support or in the open ground, in warm soil and sun.
Growing recommendations
- Sow indoors 3–4 weeks before the last frost, or directly outdoors once the soil has warmed to at least 15 °C. This is usually between April and May.
- When grown as a vine: use a support or net so it can climb and receive better ventilation.
- Maintain consistent moisture; avoid infrequent watering with a large volume of water.
- The fruits are ready to harvest when the rind is fully coloured and the variety's strong fragrance is noticeable.
